Measuring Up Your Kitchen ...

Yeah - we know, boring or what!

However, it is worth remembering that time spent measuring your kitchen properly will be repaid in full ... trust us!

This measuring guide will help cut out some of the common mistakes that are made when measuring for a new fitted kitchen.

But before you start the measuring go out and buy the following:

1. 8m Tape Measure
Why? - Because the extra width of the pullout tape allows you to measure longer distances more accurately on your own without the inevitable tape measure sag, on sale here ... DIY Tools

2. Corner Angle Measure
Why? - Because the corners of your room will not be square and an indication of which direction they run "out of square" will be useful info when you prepare the room outline - this will proove extremely usefull when marking out and cutting your worktops, on sale here ... DIY Tools

3. 5mm Squared Paper
Why? - Because kitchen plans are traditional drawn to a scale of 1:20 (i.e. the plan is 20 times smaller than the actual room size). 5mm squared pad of paper replicates the 1:20 scale perfectly (i.e. each square on the paper equals 100mm of wall space - so 6 squares = 600mm, or 20 squares = 2000mm)
