Measuring Up ...
Yeah - we know, boring or what!
However, it is worth remembering that time spent measuring your kitchen properly will be repaid ... trust us!
This measuring guide will help cut out some of the common mistakes that are made when measuring for a new fitted kitchen.
But before you start the measuring go out and buy the following:
1. 8m Tape Measure
Why? - Because the extra width of the pullout tape allows
you to measure longer distances more accurately on your own without
the inevitable tape measure sag. (on sale here ... DIY
Essentials Ltd)
2. Adjustable Corner Square
Why? - Because the corners of your room will not be square and an indication
of which direction they run "out of square" will be useful info
when you prepare the room outline (on sale here ... DIY
Tools)
3. 5mm Squared Paper
Why? - Because kitchen plans are traditional drawn to a scale of 1:20
(i.e. the plan is 20 times smaller than the actual room size). 5mm
squared pad of paper replicates the 1:20 scale perfectly (i.e. each
square on the paper equals 100mm of wall space - so 6 squares = 600mm,
or 20 squares = 2000mm)
