Rule 3. Disruption ...

Your life will be disrupted when your new kitchen is fitted!

Your kitchen is unlikely to be fitted by the one person, it is more normal for your kitchen fitter to bring in specialists to carry out Plumbing, Electrical, Gas, and Tiling works.

Each of these individuals will have their own idea's about how to reduce the inconvinience their work inevitably causes - some will try, and some will not bother!

So we suggest you accept the following, and make the best of it:

  1. It is unlikely the work will be fully completed within 10 days (21 days if fitting Granite / Corian Worktops)
  2. You will be without normal cooking facilites for about 7 days
  3. There will be times during the day that you have no running water (both hot and cold)
  4. You will not have use of a sink for 2-3 days (Ask for a temporary sink to be fitted if fitting Granite / Corian worktops)
  5. You will not be able to enter the kitchen during the laying of any flooring for a complete day
  6. There will be a degree of dust and general mess during the first week of the kitchen installation
  7. Any electrical upgrade work (to comply with "Part P" regulations) may involve disruption to other parts of your property

Before you fitter starts work, ask him for a daily schedule showing just what is going to be done each day ... and then check that it has been.
