Rule 5. Wet Things ...
We consider "wet things" to be any item that requires a water feed and/or a water waste outlet, i.e.
- Sink (Waste Outlet)
- Tap (Hot and Cold Feed)
- Washing Machine (Hot and Cold Feed + Waste Outlet)
- Dishwasher (Cold Feed + Waste Outlet)
- Condensing Dryer (Waste Outlet)
- American Fridge Freezer (Cold Feed)
It is not easy to change the way that water leaves your kitchen!
The waste water from your sink and appliances will exit the room and drain into an exterior gully - which is why your sink is likely to be positioned on an exterior wall.
Whilst it is possible to re-route the waste pipe anywhere along the outside wall, it is not practical to re-design the kitchen with the sink on a interior wall not adjacent to an exterior wall.
Should you live in a multiple floor flat your waste water outlet will run vertically down through the complete building - making any change of position almost impossible.
Try to keep the sink in the vacinity it is now!
Appliances that require a water feed only are easier to position - these appliances generally only require a 15mm cold feed, which can be surface mounted if necessary.
